INTEGRATED COMMUNICATION
Listed are artifacts that demonstrate effective communication skills applicable for my current and future personal and professional settings.
How I Communicate/Relate With The Digital World
My Web 2.0 Course taught me all I need to know about my digital footprint. We conducted Vanity Searches or searches of our own name on the internet, so that we could view the results. By doing this, we are better able to manage our online reputation.
My first Vanity Search was conducted at the beginning of my Web 2.0 course. You may view the post below.

My 2nd Vanity search was conducted at the end of my Web 2.0. The link to this post is below.

Social Networks & Education
The evolving world of internet communication provides students with radical new ways to research, create, and learn. "Educational Networking" is the use of social networking technologies for educational purposes.
Browse through the following artifacts for examples of Educational Networking.
Twitter: Twitter is an information network made up of up to 140 character messages called Tweets. Twitter makes finding information related to any topic much easier by the use of #hashtags. My personal twitter account is https://twitter.com/shaylateaches. You may also search for me by using the "@" symbol + my username "shaylateaches" to find me on twitter (ex. @shaylateaches).
I conducted a review of Twitter during my Etec 597 Course. Check it out here: http://shaylaetech527.blogspot.com/2015/06/twitter-experience.html
YouTube: YouTube is a video sharing website that makes it easy to watch online videos. YouTube is revolutionizing Education and can be used as a one stop shop for educational videos. You may also save your favorite videos to a playlist.
Here is the link to my playlists: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW8NullHkUVjATLqqJV4_Tw/playlists
Each of my playlists serve completely different purposes. From one page covering various videos that teach web designing to another page embodying most of my favorite songs and videos; they touch many topics.
Check out the link to my Youtube review: http://shaylaetech527.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-youtube-experience.html
Facebook: Facebook is a social networking website that makes it easy for to connect and share with your family and friends online. Facebook can be used as a tool for education by both students and educators. One way that i utilize Facebook is with my Educational Technology page. This page was created to provide Educators with reviews and information regarding various technologies that can be used for educational purposes.

Linked In: Linked In is an online social network designed for business professionals. After completing my student teaching and searching for a teaching position, I've found linked in to be very beneficial. I am able to search and connect with individuals that I have went to school with or worked with and I can also follow schools, organizations, and businesses.

Blogs: Blogs serve as online journals that are updated frequently by their author.
I have two blogs:
http://shaylateaches.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html & http://shaylaetech527.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-youtube-experience.html.
Websites: Websites are a set of related pages typically served from a single web domain.
My Etec 527 course required that I create an Aggregate Site. Network aggregation is the collection content from multiple services such as online newspapers, blogs, podcasts, and more. I explored Netvibes and Protopage to create my aggregate site. The dashboard I created is geared towards Educational Technology. I could see myself using this outside of this class because it is very convenient. It brings all of my websites, blogs, youtube channels, and podcasts to one site. It's the ultimate playlist! I could create an aggregate site to help my students with research. By bringing all all of the necessary sources to one page; I am certain that my students will be able to easily maneuver the site while choosing useful information for their research.
Check out my review here: http://shaylaetech527.blogspot.com/2015/07/aggregating-pages.html

Many of my courses have afforded me the opportunity to explore and play with different technologies. Some of my favorites are:
Glogster: I would love for my students to use GLOGSTER for class projects http://edu.glogster.com/?ref=com. Glogster is a cloud-based (SaaS) platform for presentation and interactive learning. It allows users to mix all kinds of media on a virtual canvas to create multimedia posters, and access a library of engaging educational content created by students and educators worldwide. I believe this technology will support every subject through its encouragement of interactive, collaborative education and digital literacy. An issue that I may encounter with this technology is lack of resources. Creating glogsters will require that each student have computer or tablet access. Depending upon where I am assigned to teach, this technology may or may not be available for my classroom.
Popplet: Popplet is a free, user-friendly tool for the iPad or web that allows you to visualize and organize ideas. Teachers as well as students can create graphic organizers, timelines, and many other forms of visual organization. Its main feature is the “popples” -boxes that contain a variety of media (text, images, YouTube videos, or drawings) and which can be connected to form relationships between things and ideas. Popplet is a very effective learning tool primarily because it facilitates a collaborative, relational, and iterative way of communicating information and may be used in a variety of disciplinary contexts.

Prezi: Prezi is a presentation tool that is used as an alternative to traditional slide programs such as PowerPoint. I used Prezi in EDCI 517,as a tool to create a Content Area Resource Anthology for the Civil War. Check out my project:
