"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."

informed
decision
making
We make decisions daily; everything we say and do is the result of a decision, whether we make it consciously or not. Decision making is a key skill for educators, and is particularly important if you want to be an effective leader. Making an informed decision requires one to approach problems from as many perspectives as possible and then choose a course of action that seems reasonable and balanced at that time.
The Educational Technology program introduced me to TPACK or Technologocial Pedagogical Content Knowledge created by Lee Shulman.
TPACK attempts to identify the nature of knowledge required by teachers for technology integration in their teaching. It addresses the complex, multifaceted, an situated nature of teacher knowledge. The "Content Knowledge" is a teachers knowledge about a particular subject. For example, a elementary music teacher would knowledgeable of different content than that of an undergraduate Business professor. "Pedagogical Knowledge" is the teacher's deep knowledge about processes or methods of teaching and learning. A teacher must understand how students learn, possess classroom management skills, implement suitable lesson plans, and deliver student assessments. "Technology knowledge" covers certain ways to think about and work with technology's tools and resources. It is the concept of understanding information technology well enough to apply it productively in a classroom setting.
In Etec 524, we explored different technologies that would be suitable for various classrooms.

I began my exploration with BLOGS.
My personal definition of a blog is, "a personal online journal or diary that is updated frequently." This definition is vague in regards to the substance or content that a blog may embody, due to it really being whatever you would want it to be. It's merely a collection of posts on any topic that you choose.
I had the pleasure of exploring e-Portfolios and the different platforms that can be used to create them. I initially created an e-portfolio with Prezi, but later discovered that this was not the best tool for me to use, per my need to continuously update my e-portfolio (see link below).
http://shaylateaches.blogspot.com/2015/05/my-e-portfolio.html
The websites I explored to create my e-portfolio were, weebly and wix. This can be found in Technology Play 2 on my blog (Scroll down, it is located under my review on Blogs).

I enjoyed learning more about powerpoint and prezi. My 3rd technology play was geared towards exploring and comparing these two technologies (Scroll down, it is located under the Weebly v. Wix post).

MY 4th technology play was over different content objects. I explored Running Record, Think Port, and Book Retriever.

Business Related Artifacts
While in the Master of Business Administration program at TAMUC, I completed multiple Business documents. As a Business Education educator, I decided to display two artifacts completed within my MBA program. The first document is an Industry Analysis, which is the marketing process that provides statistics about the market potential of your business products and services. My group and I conducted our Industry Analysis over Marriott International Incorporated.
Group Credits:
Andrew Branson, Meshayla Campbell, Carlos Espinal, Benjamin Leung, Lawal Mogaji, and Stefanie Quintela

The second document I would like to share, is a Strategic Audit. A strategic audit is a review of a company's business plan and strategies to identify the weaknesses and shortcomings and enable a successful development of the company. My group and I conducted our Strategic audit over American Airlines.

Andrew Branson, Meshayla Campbell, Carlos Espinal, Sandra Gallegos, Lawal Mogaji, and Stefanie Quintela
